After School Enrichment class
A French Language & Culture Class @ the Occidental
Community Center

FRANCE AND IN PARTICULAR PARIS, HAS PLAYED
AN IMPORTANT ROLE AS A CENTER OF HIGH
CULTURE SINCE THE 17TH CENTURY, FIRST IN
EUROPE, AND FROM THE 19TH CENTURY ON,
WORLDWIDE. MY GOAL FOR THE AFTERSCHOOL
FRENCH CLASS IS NOT ONLY TO TEACH THE
LAUNGUAGE BUT TO DEMONSTRATE HOW THE
FRENCH CULTURE IS SUCH A VALUABLE POINT
OF ENTRY INTO THE ARTS AS IT VALUES THE
ENGAGEMENT OF EMOTIONS AND INNOVATIVE
CREATIONS  THROUGH PAINTING, FOOD,
LITERATURE, SURROUNDINGS, MOVEMENTS,
DRAMA, BALLET, OPERA, ETC.

AN UNDERLYING GOAL OF THE PROGRAM WILL
BE TO TEACH THE CHILDREN HOW TO ACT AS
“CAUSES” IN THEIR LIVES RATHER THAN AN
“EFFECT”.

We will be learning about French architecture, arts,
design, gastronomy and etiquette, fashion, French
history, literature, music, paintings, performing arts
(Ballet, drama, improvisations, theater, etc.),
philosophy, and so much more.
